Newton Abbot CIC is working closely with Newton Abbot Community Trust to secure the renovation of Golden Lion Square. The Square is in the town centre opposite the Passmore Edwards Centre. You may have noticed that work has started on the site. It will be re-paved and re-planted with new seating and a small performance area.

The Newton Abbot Community Trust is very pleased with progress made with the improvements to Golden Lion Square in Newton Abbot. Work is due to be completed early in the new year and individuals or groups can help by sponsoring certain items in the square, such as paviors, sleepers, benches, trees and shrubs. The trees and the circular bench already have sponsors, including Austins, John Pike and the Rotary Club of Newton Abbot.

Jeremy Newcombe, Chair of the Trust, said "We are very pleased that items can be sponsored for as little as £1. The public were very clear that they wanted a lovely open space in which to sit and read or for occasional performances. We hope that they will now contribute to help to make this a reality."

If individuals, groups or businesses, would like to sponsor one or more items, please visit   or pick a form from the Town Hall in Devon Square. You can also request a form by phoning 01626 201120. Plans and more information can be found on the Newton Abbot CIC website.

The Newton Abbot Community Trust is a charity and consists of members of Newton Abbot Community Interest Company (CIC) and Newton Abbot Town Council
